Chandana's Caffe Bella show canceled due to flu

Hello Everyone,

The Caffe Bella shiow listed below is canceled because Chandana has come down with the flu. We are very sorry to hear this and we send Chandana our prayers and healing energy so she recovers soon. The good Caffe has assured us that we can reschedule in May, so keep your ears open.

All other listed gigs are a go. See me at legends Friday night at the Blues Jam with the Red Hot Blues Sisters (they aren't kidding either, these grrls will kick yo' a** with some classic R&B!).

Chandana, Blues Sisters, Show Brazil, and African Shows For You

Hey Music Lovers!

I am going to have to reformat this weblog because so many gigs are happening. So hopefully in a week or two, this will be easier. For now, use these links to go to the musicians whose gigs you are interested in.

There's alot going on this week: Chandana, Blues Sisters Jam, Eduardo Mendonca, Paula Maya, Jovino Santos Neto, Hidmo Restaurant, and Maya Soleil

Chandana will be singing a few songs in both the Indian and Jazz styles this Saturday night at Cafe Bella in Downtown Seattle and 8:30pm. It will be a short set, as Chandana is actually singing some jazz for the first time (but she sure doesn't sound like it's the first time!) Yours truly, the Yogster will accompany her on electric keyboards along with sax man Mike Deasy. Bop, Ballads, Indian Pop and Raga will be on the music menu. Caffe Bella 2621 Fifth Ave., 206-441-4351

A Blues Jam with the Red Hot Blues Sisters and Friends.

I'll sit in with the Blues Sisters at Legends in West Seattle on Friday night starting at 8:30. I'll bring sax man Mike Deasy, and Ahmed Tarawally of the African Knights may show up for a song or two also. Plus plenty of the Blues Sisters and their friends, all of whom are accomplished blues veterans. This is going to be fun!

Joivino atJazz Alley tonite and Wed!

Hello Everyone,

This just in from Jovino Santos Neto, Earshot's Jazz Instrumentalist of the Year, and my friend and teacher:

Brazilian artists Claudia and Ricardo have a great following in the Bay Area, where they are recognized as an outstanding musical duo. They perform their original compositions, plus some Brazilian standards. They have recorded with Toots Thielemans, Kenny Werner and other jazz greats, always showcasing the rhythmic and melodic richness of Brazil in their music. Check out their web site at ricardopeixoto.com . For tickets and reservations, please visit Jazz Alley's Website or call (206) 441-9729

Rob Postorak and Maya Soleil

Hello,

Maya Soleil is the group led by my good friend keyboardist Rob Pastorak. Maya Soleil features traditional African songs and dance, and new compositions that fuse African and jazz. I have seen this band many, many times. The show is dynamite. In addition to Maya Soleil, Rob is now hosting a Sunday night African Musician Showcase at the new Hidmo Restaurant. You can find out a lot about what's happening with African Music in Seattle just by going to Rob's shows. His website is www.mayasoleil.com.
They are also working on the construction of a new music studio, Maya Soleil Productions, which will be completed sometime this year, I think. Here's the scoop from "the Robster":
